An update on the court case of the 8 friends arrested for squatting an empty homeless shelter in Calais.
Today, the trial scheduled to take place at the court in Boulogne-sur-Mer was postponed until Friday, April 1. All 8 had accepted to be tried today, under the comparution immediate (fast track procedure).
Yesterday, after spending 48 hours in police custody, 3 friends were released until the trial and 5 kept in preventive detention to ensure that they would come to court. However, 3 of those in prison were not able to be transported to appear in person before the court. This was due to an apparent lack of organisation of transport from the prison to the court.
The three friends and their lawyers refused to be put on trial via video-conference, demanding to be present in court for their trial, alongside the other 5 friends. Their lawyers openly denounced the ‘inhumane and indecent’ justice of the 21st century and the conditions of the trial -there were more cops than comrades.
Following the decision to delay the trial, the public prosecutor demanded that the three friends remain in prison until the day of trial, Friday 1st April. The lawyers refuted the demand of the public prosecutor, a demand which was completely absurd and disproportional in terms of the allegations against the three friends. They finally managed to obtain a release permit under ‘legal supervision’.
We call for support and solidarity for those on trial for trying to provide a home to those who have none.

Mise à jour sur l’affaire des huit ami.e.s arrêtés pour l’ouverture d’un bâtiment vide pour les sans abris à Calais.
Aujourd’hui le procès en comparution immédiate au tribunal de Boulogne-sur-Mer a été reporté à vendredi 1er avril.
Hier, après 48h de garde à vue trois ami.e.s ont été libéré.es par le juge des libertés et de la détention (JLD) jusqu’au procés et cinq autres ont été mis.es en détention provisoire pour s’assurer qu’illes viendraient au tribunal aujourd’hui. Or aujourd’hui, jour du procés trois des camarades n’ont pas pu être transportées pour comparaître en personne devant le tribunal, faute de transport depuis la maison d’arrêt au tribunal. La visio-conférence qui leur avait été proposée a été refusée par les prévenu.es, ainsi que par les avocats outrés par les conditions dans lesquelles se tenaient le procès -il y avait notamment plus de flics que de soutien. Ils ont dénoncés unanimement “une justice du 21 ième siècle inhumaine et indécente.”
Suite à la décision du report du procès le procureur a requis le maintien des camarades en détention jusqu’à vendredi, détention jugée totalement absurde et disproportionnée au vu des faits reprochés par les avocats qui ont obtenus finalement une libération sous contrôle judiciaire au lieu de trois jours d’incarcération de plus.
Nous appelons au soutien et à la solidarité pour celleux qui vont être jugé.es pour avoir tenté d’ouvrir une maison pour celleux qui n’en ont pas. Venez à Boulogne-sur-Mer le vendredi 1er avril à 14h. Amenez vos amis, envoyer des messages de soutien, et de résistence.
