militants nationalistes.

Emergency state : fascists groups still protest…
Sunday afternoon in Calais, a protest took place “to support the neighbourhoods” organized by “Calaisiens en colère” (Angry Calaisians). About 70 fascists met on Route de Gravelines, which runs along one side of the jungle, with their three-coloured flags and other banners on which we could read “Support to police presence”, “support to the lorry drivers”, “support to security agents and dog-breeders” and “Immigration, Capital’s weapon”. The latest motto comes from MAS (Mouvement d’Action Sociale, a group which claims an ideology of national-socialism).
Many cops were also present. People with papers, who live in the jungle, were on the other side of the road to watch how things were going but they were rapidly intimidated by police.
After singing “La Marseillaise”, the fascists tried to march along Route de Gravelines. It seemed like they were going to be allowed to but were finally stopped from doing so as it was considered “too dangerous” by police. This made the tension increase. As some of the protesters shouted insults to people from the jungle, including “On est chez nous” (This is our land), two members of BAC (undercover police) insulted a migrant. They then turned their anger on observing activists, attacking someone who was attempting to film the situation, and later snatching them away to be controlled without any obvious reason.
This represents another step in the slow march of fascism in Calais. The only answer we have is to oppose these hateful scumbags on the streets and in our communities. We cannot let fear or the state stop us from combatting the xenophobic nationalism that manifests itself in the hearts and minds of our neighbors. We need to stand up to racism, fascism, and hatred whenever it appears.
