Sequel of events:
Yesterday Monday 12th in the morning 100 migrants manage to enter in the Channel Tunnel.
In the night between Monday and Tuesday there is a huge traffic jam on the motorway, with thousands of people running on the motorway trying to board the lorries that are stuck there and not moving, many succeed. Others come back to the camp after failing, some have been gassed or hit by police, or cut their hands on the razor wire, or hurt their legs etc. and they get some very heavy showers of rain, at 4 am there are no dispensaries and no medics but it is in the night that most injuries happen, that is why we are asking for more first aid stuff to the jungle to be distributed directly to the migrants (see call out below).
FIRST AID STUFF NEEDED IN CALAIS JUNGLE.
THE PEOPLE IN THE CAMP CAN DO FIRST AID THEMSELVES IF THEY HAVE WHAT IS NEEDED:
-MAALOX (may need to show how to use it , needs to be mixed with water just before use and after 1/2 hour becomes unusable)
-PAINKILLERS (but do not tell anyone cos you cannot give paracetamol over the counter in France)
There are refugees who are doctors and refugees who are very good at doing first aid. If you have first aid material just bring to the distribution points, green tent etc we can distribute from there. Need to be given again often because it goes quickly. For serious injuries there is the fire brigade ambulance, good service. Also many people are getting colds and they got lots of rain yesterday, raw garlic three cloves per day is the best for that, ginger and vitamin C, and more cigarettes please, cigarettes are useful against CS gas, the migrants blow cigarette smoke in the eyes of their friends who have been gassed because it relieves the burning and irritation, but cigarette smoke is also useful inhaled for the throat and lungs.
THE WATER SITUATION IS VERY MUCH OF A PROBLEM PLEASE BRING MINERAL WATER TO THE CAMP AS MANY BELIEVE THE WATER IS NOT DRINKABLE. One study found E-coli in the drinking water, the pipes are shit and they lie in the middle of raw sewage, high risk of diarrhoea and other diseases. the sanitary situation is absolutely terrible but do not worry, a medical finding mission ordered by Cazeneuve is coming to the jungle tomorrow – the authorities used the unsanitary conditions they created to justify past evictions.
