Views from Africa House

Ibrahim, 25, Darfur “We entered France without documents. They say what we did was wrong. But what they are doing is not right. There are many people who have claimed asylum in France, but have no where to sleep. France has a reputation for helping refugees. We don’t understand how they can decide to destroy this place of shelter for refugees. Why are they doing this? Where are our human rights?”

Mohammed, 18, Darfur “I have lived in Calais more than 2 months. Everyday police come, take people to prison and mistreat us. Soemtimes they say to me “You are black, you are shit. You need to leave France.”

Salin, 18 Darfur “I hope the government doesn’t destroy this home because I have claimed asylum in France and I have no where else to sleep.”
